On the evening of May 12, in the wake of marriage equality victories in Maine, Iowa and Vermont, the New York State Assembly voted to pass A.7732/O'Donnell.
The legislation would give same sex couples the same legal recognition enjoyed by heterosexual married couples.
The bill must still pass in the State Senate, where it is S.4401/Duane, to become state law.
